Day 4: A Reunion of Sorts

When hubby and I were still dating, there was a hole-in-the-wall batchoy place that we would frequent in the Capitol area in Cebu. It was called Carlo's Batchoy. It was just an open-air outlet where people from all walks of life would frequent to get their fix of hot, steaming batchoy.

Shortly after arriving in Cebu for the holidays, I wandered off to the place where I knew Carlo's was located and was surprised to find out it wasn't there anymore. It took two more days of leisurely walking along the Capitol-Fuente area to discover where this batchoyan eventually moved to. Well, it underwent a face-lift and is now an air-conditioned place located at the row of stalls called "Boulevard". The price of a bowl of special batchoy with egg didn't change from years ago...what changed though is the serving size and the amount of "goodies" in every bowl.

This short rendezvous at an old familiar place also gave us the opportunity to bond as a family even for just a brief moment. There was laughter, loud exchanges of everyday experiences - from the funny issues at work to mundane ones like taxi escapades. On our way home, we couldn't pass up not having some shots of the Cebu Capitol building at night. Passersby and motorists probably thought we were some crazy bunch roaming the streets but they didn't know we were a family finally having a long-awaited reunion.

Day 203: Just chillin'

As with numerous articles of baby clothing and toys, this director's chair is a hand-me-down  item from Kuya Jarred. Like the diva that she is, CeeJae took to the chair oh so naturally, grabbing her shades and make-believe cocktail cup and straw, posing just at the right moment for Mommy to capture this photo.

Day 144: Self-Portrait

Believe it or not, I took this photo myself. With the  help of a small tripod, I propped my point-and-shoot on top of the television and made use of the timer function to click the shutter.

Since I couldn't get a perfect angle and distance, it took several tries before I decided I had enough decent shots. This "photo shoot" was done right after midday during a brownout. The room was like a sauna hence the sweat marks on my blouse and on my face.

Well, for a shoot that took less than 30 minutes to complete, I came up with some pretty good shots.

Day 91: Lovely in Green

During a visit to Kuya Jarred's school today to get his graduation photos and report cards, little Cailie decided to don another new shirt from Lola and Tita Tintin.  She chose this Old Navy hooded shirt in green with black stripes paired with her old denim shorts.  Cailie wore her Old Navy flip flops and pink sunglasses to complete the look.

She gamely posed for me as I took shots of her from different angles.  I'm so glad she's beginning to take interest in girlie fashion as she used to refuse anything that looked feminine.  Gone are the days she'd don a baseball cap and refuse to remove it unless it was bedtime already.  Whew!!!

Day 88: Fresh

Cailie and I had to rush to the wet market today as my stock in the fridge is dwindling.  Since it's not the scheduled market day (it's supposed to be Wednesdays and Saturdays), I was a bit hesitant to go as the vegetables and fish there might not be as great as on market days.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that I still had bountiful fresh veggies and seafood to choose from so I couldn't help but take photos of them right away.  Because it's Holy Week already, I stocked up on fish and added more veggies than usual.

Day 82: Kuya Jarred, the photographer

It was a restless and insanely warm midday stricken with the usual 5-hour brownout.  With nothing to do, Kuya Jarred brought out our trusty point-and-shoot and captured wonderful moments of us girls.

Hmmm....not bad, don't you think?  Photography as an art is in a league all its own nowadays and is getting to be a pretty lucrative business too so I wouldn't really discourage my son if he wanted to pursue it professionally in the future.

Day 61: Way back when...

I chanced upon this photo while I was rummaging through some old stuff. This is an 11-year old photo, taken during the Sinulog in Cebu in 1999.  If I'm not mistaken, this was the first time I sported a very short hairstyle (I always had medium-length to very long hair).  This was my very first Sinulog as I had only moved to Cebu the year before.  I notice that this photo is shouting "freedom!!!" I just had started to live independently for the first time in my life.

Day 44: Smolderin'

For my Hearts Day post, let me go back in memory lane to the time when hubby and I were still going steady.  Before prenuptial photos made a big hit, we already snapped up our very own prenup pic taken by my brother using a conventional point and shoot camera.  This was taken during Christmas holidays in 2000 at Fontana Leisure Park in Pampanga. Wouldn't you agree that this is one smokin' hot photo of us?

A special Valentine's shout out to my hubby...Happy Hearts Day Ga!!! Love you so  so much! Mwah!!!

Day 31: Accomplishment

At the start of the year, I began Project 365 in response to MrsG's challenge. It took a week before I finally pushed myself to begin the project, hence having 7 entries in my very first post.  I have to admit that it was indeed a daunting task in the beginning and there were days that I missed updating it but somehow I managed to get back on track.

Today is the last day of the month and I cap the first 31 days of 2010 with the word "accomplishment".  I borrowed the image here from www.zazzle.com and found it to be a fitting description of the past month.  Every single day that passes leaves some accomplishment, no matter how small.  Before January bid a bow of goodbye, we had to battle certain health issues that reminded us to always be careful with what we eat and feed the kids.  It also made us come face-to-face with fear when we thought a simple misstep could have caused a serious injury.  Sometimes the everyday rustics of life tend to make us complacent and this should never be the case.  We should always be on our toes...always alert to whatever life throws at us.

With January enclosed in memory, I look forward to the next 11 months with so much vigor and excitement...and I wonder what other adventures are in store for little Miss Promdi...

Day 20: After the rain...

I spoke too soon...the warmth of yesterday's sunshine failed to continue until today.  I woke up to find the skies in gloomy gray.  Sure enough, by mid morning it was raining once more.  The scheduled laundry day had to be postponed again...and looking at the small mountain pile I have in a corner, I wonder when the baskets of dirty clothing would finally have their date with soap and water.  I'm getting a little anxious as all of us in the family are close to running out of things to wear.

Tinkering with our handy point-and-shoot cam, hubby took the photo above as he was trying to learn the technique of macro shooting.  We were both amazed at this new discovery so we both spent the whole morning shooting other subjects in macro mode...It's funny that we only discovered we could do this with our point-and-shoot when we've had the camera for almost 3 years now.
