Day 343: Serene

Caitlin's very long hair has allowed me to explore the many ways I can fix it.  Pigtails, ponytails, clips, hair bands, braids...you name it, I've done it.  However on most days, I prefer to braid her hair since it's the one that looks neatest on her.  Whenever I unravel her braids the next day in time for a bath, her hair comes off in a glorious tumble of curls and waves.  And it was one of these moments when I took advantage of preserving such a look of serenity on my young daughter's face.

Day 311: Unico Hijo Gwapito

Unlike CeeJae's hair which seems to take forever to grow, Kuya Jarred's grow long and thick quite fast that's why he needs regular appointments with the barber.

Today he had his haircut on the way home from church. It took less than 30 minutes for the barber to shave off that thick mane of hair and end up with a neater and more manageable look.

Day 213: Crowning Glory

Wasn't it just last summer 2009 when I could hardly keep Caitlin's hair neatly pinned or tied since it was awkwardly short and her strands were quite thin. Well, look at how her hair has transformed into a gorgeous mane of silky strands. Almost reaching midway to her back,  she likes it when I fashion her hair into two equal braids. Sometimes, when pressed for time, I just let her tuck the sides behind her ear just as in the photo above for a more dramatic look.

Day 174: Lovely CeeJae

Despite the obvious lack of crowning gloriousness, my bunsoy, CeeJae still manage to exude overall girly sweetness. Her twinkling eyes speak of both innocence and mystique and her intoxicating smile is definitely contagious.

Cathleen Janelle can carry herself well and shows so much confidence in her every stride. So even if it might take a while for her gorgeous locks to show, I'm sure she can manage to maintain all girlishness with that lovely face and disposition.

Day 140: Telltale

In my previous post, I marveled on my beach tan and new hairstyle. What the photo on that entry failed to show is what I'm featuring here.

You don't have to look closely to notice the telltale signs of age...it's screaming right at you. That's right, within my crowning glory nestles hundreds of silver strands, glimmering and shining for all to see. I'd have to say that premature graying runs in my family. My maternal grandmother has been sporting the coolest all-white 'do for decades now. My Mom has shared the same color in the last 5 years...imagine my current hairstyle in all-grey.

My stylist has tried to convince me more than once to have coloring and highlights done. He says it will do my short style justice. Wow! I'd love to but breastfeeding since 2006 has prevented me from going the dye route. If my 2nd daughter decides to follow her Atchie, it'll take me until 2012 (at the earliest) before I can consider having my locks colored. For the time being, let the silver in my hair remain as a symbol of growth and maturity.

Day 139: Sun-kissed

I'm a beach babe but I hate staying out in the sun too long so I've never really had a proper tan for several years now.

I didn't realize I spent quite a longer period under the sun during our brief summer sojourn in Padre Burgos. As a result, I came home with quite a sun-kissed look.

I was really planning to feature my new hairstyle in this entry but when the photos revealed my summer complexion I just couldn't resist blogging (and bragging) about it. I love my color and I love my hair! What do you think?

Day 137: Shaolin Girl

Compared to her two older siblings, CeeJae was born with a thin patch of hair and sported it until she turned 1. In contrast, Jarred and Cailie had thick and long hair by their first birthday. To remedy this, we decided to have her head fully shaved off to enable faster growth of her hair. Taking after her Kuya Jarred, we discovered that CeeJae has a perfectly-round head which makes her look like a little Shaolin master.

Day 89: Summer Look

The scorching summer heat has prompted hubby and me to have our son's hair shaved down.  This was his usual hairstyle since he was a year old up to the time he started school.  He sort of asked not to have it done this way then because he felt his classmates might tease him or find it funny looking.

Well, it's summertime and a lot of young boys would probably have their hair done this way.  Shaved or not, he's still one great looker, don't you think?
